I tried quite hard to convince myself that I didn't like Carter USM when they were at the (relative) height of their popularity, however much I might find myself tapping my fingers along with a track. Then I found myself listening to the lyrics for Sheriff Fatman one day and got hooked. It is a superbly satirical piece and not unique in their canon in this respect.

I've only ever been to 2 gigs where I didn't personally know the band. One was The Cure, and the other was Carter USM.

Agreed. Although I think The Only Living Boy In New Cross also has a lot going for it.
