*boggle* of the morning:

'Suitable for vegetarians'.

On the side of a jar of freeze dried coffee.

Leaving aside all images of vast herds of coffee beans sweeping across the wide Serengeti, I now have this terrible urge to start producing absurdist consumer notifications.

I think every housebrick would be improved by a little sign saying "warning: may be harmful if inhaled."

That reminds me of the water my fiancée buys in Germany which on the label clearly states "Suitable for Vegans and gluten intolerant persons". I mean, it's water...

Hmm, maybe there's something that gets used in processing but doesn't make it into the final product which would make it not-vegetarian? Like with beer or cheese or white sugar?

But no, some quick Googling indicates that this is just a Wonko The Sane type thing.

Like the lunch provided at the meeting I was at yesterday, where one of the buffet items was chicken on skewers (kind of a satay-like thing) and there was a sign saying "contains meat"?

Well, to be fair, someone at the inaugural firing of our new brick barbecue hefted a (leftover) brick, and having determined that it cost 58c, deemed it the cheapest weapon in Dublin.

I had a similar brainmelt when I spotted the little V in a circle on a bag of cat food. Now cats, they are bona fide carnivores. VEGETARIAN cats?!

Yeah... Veterinary.

But... what we really need is handguns marked: WARNING: Proper or improper use of this product may lead to SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
